Sloane Square - good location in London?

Hi everyone
I've found accomodation in Sloane Square in London that looks nice. Does anyone know what this location is like in terms of being close to the tube / touristy attractions etc?

Cheers

Cathy

Hi Cathy,

Its quite central. Its on the district and circle line, and just a short walk from Harrods, Hyde Park, and the Picadilly line at Knightsbridge. Its quite a posh area of town with lots of high end stores etc. I wouldnt hesitate to stay there.

We lived right there for a year. It is quite central. Besides the tube there are also good bus lines for tourist destinations: 11, 19 and 22. (I never missed a chance to sit on the top deck in the front!) Also, areas nearby for restaurants: down Kings Road W, Pilico Road SE and Elizabeth Street just E.

Josser: Play nice

If someone isn't aware of what/who Sloane Rangers are that could sound ominous.

LakesideChick: Sloane Sq is a terrific location and quite up market.

Great location. I stayed in that area the first time I traveled to London. Loved it.

Sloane Rangers:

A early 1980s term, invented to describe the posh, horse-devoted, quintessentially English, young women typified by Lady Di before she went mad.

Invented by a man who passed himself off as Peter York, but was actually called something else. Ran a management consultancy in partnership with the bloke who was chairman of the HBOS bank during the period it ran up just about more bad debts than any other UK business in history except the even more hapless other big Scottish bank.
