Skype in Turkeyand Europe
Hello,
I've signed up for SkypePro.
I see the sell a Netgear SPH 200D that allows you to call/receive -- I think -- without using a computer.
Does anyone knows how Skype works? Would you recommend the Netgear SPH 200D? How does it work?
How does it work in other European countries?
Thanks!

We use the free skype constantly in Europe and we used it in Turkey. We have had no problems with it and we use a webcam so keep in touch with family that way.
I even used the webcam to show grandma in California how well her 6yo was swimming at the pool in selcuk ( near Ephesus).
We found great wifi almost every where we went in Turkey for free at small budget hotels. Great wifi makes for great skype calls usually.

Skype is free and so easy that even my computer illiterate 80 year old mother can use it easily with webcam.
Download it and practice with a friend.
My kid even takes her piano lessons via skype here in Europe from her teacher who lives in Chicago.
It is wonderful and free and very, very easy. We found that it works well even on slower systems like dial up and satellite. ( sometimes we sacrifice the picture if it is a very slow connection or just take a peek).

Hi,
I'm in Turkey right now. Using Skype was no problem, as most hotels have Wi-Fi. I did purchase a Tulumba phone card. You need a landline, and then dial the Turkish equivalent of an 800 number. Then a Turkish recording comes on, and since I don 't know Turkish, I assumed it was asking me for my password, which the hotel clerk confirmed. Then I dialed the area code and phone number, but the call never went through.
