Thanks Julie... Your understanding is correct... I do them on the computer.... I generally use Photoshop to do my manipulations... Thanks!

That's fantastic. Help me understand what you mean by "my manipulations" I assume there's some art as well as technical finesse to doing this and that not just any old body can learn it, right? It's pretty phenomenal if you ask me. My Easy Share or maybe even the photo thing attached to comcast can change a photo into a line drawing, but this is so much more.

Yes, Julie, There is a technique that I was trying to learn to create this effect and sometimes it is involved and does not work on every picture... it is not that difficult though if you know how to use Photoshop...

I agree, some websites like you mentioned do offer similar conversion but the effect is not that realistic like you pointed out...
