Single night Stay in Umbria Region

We are looking for any suggestions for a single night stay in the Umbria region of Italy. I've collected 3 recommendations by looking through the forums. I understand a single night is very hard to get, but we are also very flexible as to where we will stay. Our first choice is Perugia. But Spello, Spoleto, Terni, or pretty much anywhere is fine. We will be in the area around noon on a Saturday and will leave late Sunday.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Ken,

It will help if you tell us where you will be prior to Umbria and where you are going after. Also, what are you interests. Why do you want to do to Umbria?

If you want to stay in Perugia, I don't think you will have a problem with a single night stay. It's a large city with plenty of hotels.

Also, how will you be traveling, car or train?

We will travel by car from the coast northwest of Rome. We will head to Rome Sunday late. We have a Marriott reservation there. We're not big on museums. Love local culture, food. Just sightseeing. Wine and food are high on the list.

Why not Orvieto?
Where do you plan to drop the car late on Sunday?

We'll have the car until Monday am. Our only two requirements are a single night stay and in the Umbria region, so we would be open to Orvieto if we can find a room. We don't require anything fancy, we've stayed in farmhouses and shared a common bathroom before.

Hi Ken,

I second Bob's suggestion for Orvieto. It's one of my very favorite towns in Italy and has probably my favorite duomo exterior too!

A couple years ago we stayed for one night at Il Cantico della Natura near Perugia and LOVED it. It's a gorgeous agriturismo with wonderful views, surrounded by woods, serving fantastic local cuisine. It was still under a bit of construction at the time but judging by the website at www.ilcanticodellanatura.it it's looking wonderful now.

Check out these beautiful places in Umbria: Madonna del Piatto near Assisi,(cooking , views and away from the day trippers), Genius LociCountry House near Bevagna if its summer and you want a pool, and Relais Borgo Brufa near Torgiano (great oil and wine museums) for spectacular views, wellness center, pools, great restaurant. You'll have a car so enjoy the out of town places where those of us who live here go on our vacations.
