Sicily with a toddler
Hi everyone,
we are planning a trip to Italy with a 3 year old at the end of May. We want to go to a place that has a nice beach, yummy food and a couple of things to see/do. We were considering Sicily as we’ve never been there and because it’s far south and we hope to be able to go swimming. However, we have no idea what there is to do in Sicily. We need to fly somewhere where Swiss Air flies, so I’m Sicily that’s Palermo, Syracuse and Catania. We will rent a car but don’t want to drive far (daughter gets car sick), like an hour or so.
So can anyone recommend a nice, kid friendly sandy beach with a few sights to see?
thanks!

I noticed you are from Toronto. If you want a nice beach and things to do with a 3 year old I might suggest other areas rather than Sicily. Are you wedded to that plan or are you open to other areas? I would think the beaches and water in parts of Spain would be warmer. Of course I also think of the Caribbean or Hawaii as being a great vacation for beaches, restaurants, and fun things for kids to do.

Hi nanabee! I will be in Europe (Switzerland) for business, so that’s why we thought we’d make it a family trip somewhere warm after. We are not 100% set on Sicily, but would like to go somewhere that is a short flight from Zurich and is warm. If Sicily is not the best choice, which places would you recommend? We’re done northern Italy before, so we’d like to explore the southern regions this time. On a completely different note, which places in Spain would you recommend?

I think the suggestion to go somewhere other than Sicily is well worth considering. You might look at Malaga, or any number of other locations better known for their beaches. You can use booking.com to get a quick sense of whether you can fly from Zurich.
