Sicily Suggested Itinerary
Hello Everyone,
I just got engaged and am planning a wedding ceremony in Sicily. However, we are going to turn this into a vacation for those family members who decide to join us and am looking for suggested itineraries. We plan to get married in San Vito Lo Capo, just South West of Palermo (about a 1 hr drive).
I am wondering what you guys would recommend for a 10 day Sicily itinerary. Also, feel free include what you would add to the itin if you had a couple more days on top of that.
It would be helpful if you could let me know how much time each destination that you recommend deserves.
Thank You!!!!!!!!

Congratulation for your wedding!
We visited Sicily in October last year. See my report in Fodors:

We spent two weeks and we loved Sicily. I hope you and your family will have a great time.

We know a group of 11, mostly Americans of Sicilian ancerstry, who toured Sicily. I knew that some were not compatible.
Be sure to pick drivers that everyone is comfortable with.
Decide how to pay for meals and deinks beforehand.
Be sure to have rooms booked beforehand.
Undertsand that people can go on their separate ways at times.

Sicily is one of our favorite places. The antiquities are spectacular. Be sure to include Agrigento and Segesta. Cefalu is beyond charming and Monrreale is spectacular.

We loved Sicily during our 15 day trip in 2005---here are the pics to prove it. http://www.slowphotos.com/photo/show...y.php?cat=3828
Be sure to include Selinunte which will be not far from you.

I'm another fan of Sicily. I would say that my top picks are Erice, Ortigia, and Trapani, as places to stay, and Monreale and the Villa Casale as places to visit. My TR is here: http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...ing-sicily.cfm

Congratulations on your engagement! Here is the link to my recent trip report. It includes the link to the planning thread which I found extremely helpful.

I would have liked:
More time in Palermo. We had two nights there but only one full day.
More time to explore the Valle dei Templi and some of the surrounding attractions and fit in the Villa del Casale. I didn't find the immediate area around the temples very attractive but an agriturismo more off the beaten path might have been a good option here. An Australian couple we met at Casa Talía very much enjoyed their stay at the Mandranova.
