Sicily road map for driving trip

Hi, It's been recommended to get a TCI (Touring Club of Italia) road map for Sicily. However, it's not clear what the copyright date is -- even at the TCI website. And Amazon seems to have only the 2004 edition.
There is a 2011 edition of the Michelin map for Sicily.
Any reason i should continue to try to track down a newer TCI map (Book depository carries it and says it's 2012 edition, but not sure it really is; trek tools indicates a 2009 edition) or should i just purchase the Michelin road map?
thanks -- really appreciate hearing from people who drove through Sicily!

I got the TCI road map, as people suggested on TripAdvisor; it's a pretty great map. Will check at home what the edition is. I am a worrier, so I may have also bought a Michelin because those are the ones I usually use.

I would think it's worth it to get at least the 2009. 2004 seems a bit old to me.

I see from a prior post you are renting a car. In addition to the map...will you have a GPS? We have traveled Sicilia...the GPS was a marriage saver!!

We have a garmin GPS we used in italy in 2007. We will update the european maps if we can! Don't want any marriage problems
however, some people have mentioned that GPS is a problem in sicily -- bringing one down dirt roads, stairways, etc.
presumably we'll use map and GPS!

My TCI Sicily map is from 2009. Our trip was in 2011. I got it online from trektools.

As I was going through my maps I found a good Palermo city map too. Wonder where I go that from?

I used the viamichelin.com mapping tools to get me in and out of cities with the car. We did not have a GPS.

Best guidebook for us was the Michelin Green Guide.

Have fun planning your trip!

Dunno about the paper maps, but I extensively used a TomTom GPS in/on Sicily. It worked great, no problems with dirt roads or anything like that.
