Sicily Home base(s)
Hi everyone,
My wife and I will be visiting Italy again in June. We'll be spending 3 days in Venice to see the things we missed the first time and then 9 days in Sicily.
We have a pretty good idea of what we want to see and do in Sicily and would like to limit our hotels to 2 or 3 and make frequent daytrips (we will have a car).
What are your suggestions? Ideally, one base would be on a nice beach
Thanks,

What are the things you want to see and do while in Sicily? It doesn't readily lend itself to bases, and you've probably already realized that with 9 days you can't see all the highlights, but if you tell us your plans, we might be able to make some reasonable suggestions.

We have had bases in Taormina and Ortigia on the eastern side of the island, Palermo and Taormina (or even Cefalu) when visiting the northern part of the island; and Trapani on the west (northwest) side of the island. This fall, we will focus on the so-called Baroque towns and will base in Ragusa (we could have selected Modica) and again in Ortigia, in the south. You will find beaches near all of these bases within 30 minutes or so.
