I was never a big fan of Palermo, but I said that once on this sight and MAN, you should have heard the reaction. That said, if you only have a limited time, see what you can see, if you have time, see some more (including Palermo). If not, don't sweat it and enjoy what you can. You will love Sicily!!

We spent a week in Palermo, loved it & want to go back - it is really interesting & atmosheric & there's so much to see.
Didn't care for Cefalu - found it a bit depressing.
What time of year are you going ? To me that would affect how long I spent in some places; e.g. I'd spend longer in Taormina if it's going to be warm.
Without knowing that, I'd say probably either split evenly between Palermo & Taormina; or 4 nights Taormina, 2 nights Siracusa, 1 night Agrigento.
We spent a week in Palermo, loved it & want to go back - it is really interesting & atmosheric & there's so much to see.
