Short day trip from Venice

Hi all

Current plans for Venice will be three days there before heading on to Florence. I can't decide if I am going to spend the whole 3 days there or venture out for part of one day. I've only been to Venice once before so I may well soak it up for the whole three days.

Where have you gone outside of Venice (but close) for a day or part-day trip that you particularly enjoyed?

I didn't make it to Murano and Burano so I may do just that. I also didn't get to the Lido, is that worth a day trip, given other options?

With only 3 days, I'd stick around the lagoon. Since you've been there before, Murano (if you like glass blowing), Burano, and/or Torcello would be a reasonable short daytrip.

I'd only go to the Lido if your trip is in summer and you want to experience a beach resort.

Flygirl - I'd second Rufus' suggestion. Burano is especially nice IMO ...

If you really want to go do a mainland trip I'd suggest Treviso or Padova.

Hope this helps ...

What time of year ? Last June, when it was hot & we were there for a week, we enjoyed a trip out to Burano for a lovely seafood lunch al fresco. But with only 3 days, I wouldn't go anywhere other than the centre.

Hi f,

With only 3 days in Venice, I can't see how you would get bored.

Burano is very nice, as is Torcello. Murano has a glass museum.

oh, I know I won't get bored! I just wondered if I should venture out of Venice for part of my 3 days.

This is late May - the 20th through the 23rd when I leave for Florence.
