Shopping on Sunday and MyHotel

Two questions -- anyone ever stayed at MyHotel in Bloomsbury? Didn't find too many postings on this site about it.

Also, what kind of shopping can be done on Sunday? Is Harrods open? What about shops in Soho?

Thanks!

Negative to MyHotel; I'm totally unfamiliar with it. As to Sunday shopping, you will find many stores and shops open on Sunday afternoon, including Harrod's. Mr. Al Fayed doesn't like a tuppence to escape his grasp. Some of the Soho shops are open, but not as many as the more mainstream stores on Regent Street, Picadilly, and Oxford Street. Don't worry; you will find plenty to keep you busy. Oh, yes, do try to visit the Covent Garden Markets. There is lots to see, street entertainment of surprisingly good quality, crafts, and plenty of eating places.

I think Harrods are closed on Sundays, except in December before Christmas. Most stores open six hours, from around 11 am to 5 pm. Those that are normally closed include designer shops in Mayfair and Knightsbridge and high-class art galleries and specialist shops in places like Saville Row. Soho isn't a typical shopping area, and most shops there are tourist shops and specialist delis.

MyHotel is a contemporary hotel with a great reputation. I haven't stayed their but have often popped in for cocktails. Decent location for good bars and restaurants. If you like modern/treny hotels, then you'll like it.

As regards Sunday shopping, you'll find most stores in central London open on Sunday til 5 or 6pm, EXCEPT Harrods, although any Londoner will tell you to go to Selfridges instead anyway.

I do nearly all my clothes shopping on a Sunday, and will typically go to either Oxford Street and Regent Street (for Selfridges, Mango, Top Shop, Zara and others), OR Covent Garden/Neal Street (for casual 'street' clothes and shoes/trainers) OR Hamsptead, which makes a nice break from central London and includes some designer shops along side more affordable options. Kings Road in Chelsea is another excellent shopping road on a Sunday.
