Shoes or Sneakers?
Going briefly to Munich, the, Salzburg, Prague, Budapest, Vienna tomarrow. Advise, if wish to travel light: comfortable shoes versus sneakers ( possibly not not acceptable at some restaurants), tending to go with shoes. Thoughts. Ideas. Thank you, Jack

I switched to leather or nubuck walking shoes years ago. They look better, fit better, are more supportive and more comfortable than sneakers. For more comfort you can insert an orthodic inner sole. I'm not sure why any one would wear sneakers for sightseeing all day. In the warm weather I wear sensible sandals.

I take light weight hiking boots, since I need the ankle support, plus Birkenstocks. If I think I'll need something dressier I take a pair of black flats (I'm female). Basically, take whatever will be most comfortable for a full day's sightseeing on unforgiving pavement, plus ideally a second pair of shoes or sandals so you can switch off. I've never been thrown out of a restaurant because of my footwear, but I don't eat places with multiple Michelin stars.
