Agree with janisj but waterproof might be best. These are the conditions when I wear my Hunters especially since they are waterproof but they might not work for you. I believe they now make them in a smaller boot, more ankle length which would be fine if you don’t require a great deal of support. I also have an old pair of waterproof Aetrex’s that have a zip up front of shoe and they work well in wet conditions too. For the kind of walking you indicate, any of those mentioned will work, however I wouldn’t wear anything very expensive unless it’s waterproof. Wet mud can ruin even good shoes.
