Swiss Train Tickets
Am trying to navigate the Swiss train website sbb.ch and have a few questions. We will be six days in Switzerland (no rail passes) and wonderingwhat the difference is between Super saver tickets versus a half fare card. Here are the
places we plan to need tickets for so not sure which is my better option. Any tips, advice, suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Paris Nord to Luzern (thinking I may want to do Paris to Basel and then Basel to Luzern to take advantage of Swiss discounts)
In Luzern -- boat ride on lake, Luzern to Alpnachstad , Luzern to Weggis , Mt. Pilatus and/or Mt. Rigi
Luzern to Lauterbrunnen
Lauterbrunnen to Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald, Murren, Wengen, Gimmelwald (use of Gondolas, trains, etc)
Lauterbrunnen to Milan

Paris to Lucerne book all way at www.voyages-sncf.com - cheaper than booking to Basel then using separate ticket to Lucerne. Book early forsweet discounts. For lots on booking discounted tickets -limited in number be sure to book weeks early check www.seat61.com - a font of great info on booking your own tickets online. General info www.ricksteves.com and BETS-European Rail Experts.
I suggest you look into the Berner Oberland Pass that would cover most things in Lucerne and Interlaken/Jungfrau Regions - super saver fares do not apply and anyway half-off card makes regular tickets lots cheaper.

Pilatus or Rigi?
Two very different mountain peaks - Rigi is rather low elevation and the draw there is not glacier-girdled soaring Alps but marvelous views for miles around - some nice easy or hard hikes too and incessant Alphorn blowing up top (Mark Twain in his hike up Rigi before trains or gondolas went there he especially detested those constant sounds. But I found it rather neat.
Pilatus is no Alpine wonderland either but a solitary peak soaring high above Lake Lucerne - the train up is especially thrlling as mountain railways go. But IME Pilatus is often enchrouded in clouds or fog so go on the first good day if going,
Nice to take boat to Alpnachstad and train from there and gondolas back down to suburban Lucerne for buses back to town center. Pilatus is a mere fragment of the soaring peaks you'll see in Jungfrau Region - I'd chose Rigi and for its nice meadows and easy hikes. I took boat to Vitznau and train to summit (Rigi-Kulm) and did an easy waltz down to Arth-Goldau thru cow pastures and caught train to back to Lucerne from there.

PalenQ-- I was wondering the difference between the 2-- would prefer the easier hikes..like the idea of training/gondolas up and then coming down via the meadows...Now I just need to have a good day to do one of those and it sounds like Rigi would be the best bet. Thanks
