Shall I leave london for new year?

Originally my husband and I are supposed to be in london between the 28th of December to the 15th of JAnuary. We have now come realize that there is nothing to do here for new year. Watching foreworks is a big deal to us so we would like to go somewhere else for new year for a few days and then come to london. We are not the partying or drinking type. We are the type that would like to watch fireworks from a bench or from a balcony in our hotel. Nicely decorated festive streets would be a plus.

You could try Edinburgh or Glasgow (New Year is a big day in Scotland) or jump on the Eurostar and spend acouple of nights in Paris.

I do not think you have enough time to find a hotel booking in edinburgh for hogmanay.

For 2000 I was trying to get to the river area in London for the fireworks and did not bother as around 10pm you had people vomiting on platforms already -so watched the world's fireworks on TV instead - and saw London's rather flop compared to what was expected. London on this day frankly can be rather gross.
Paris with their fireworks from Eiffel Tower look really impressive - easy trip across by Eurostar. Edinburgh has fantastic display - there are a lot of b & b s so could still try there or stay out of Edinburgh drive in to near the centre and walk to Prince St Gardens.

You'll easily still get a room in Edinburgh for New Year. It might not be your first choice but it'll be perfectly OK

I have read from several sources that there are no fireworks in Pairs this New Year!
