Seville WARNING for Women

While walking on the riverside path---A man exposed himself to me, he was rustling around in the a bush. I thought it was a cat ..I turned to see him briskly fondly himself. .It was about 845a I was alone at that point ,,,another women jogger had passed me a block up and when I got on the path at the golden tower there were a few bikers and older men fishing. It didnt seem unsafe to me...and the path seemed very crowded in the afternoon. So I just would not walk alone early in the morning.
I am working on a trip report but thought I should put out this warning
Otherwise I loved Seville.

Blokes are going around waving their hamptons at women all over the globe. It's not just a Spanish thing you know.

Poor man, there he was just minding his own "business", then you disturb him.

I'm sorry this happened but this is hardly unique to Seville. I had a similar experience in Greece and I know how maddening it is. The man exposed himself and he was also enjoying himself, so to speak. I know women who have experienced the same in every corner of the world including their home cities. I think the best message is to use extra caution when walking alone. That's always good advice so thanks for that.

I'm glad your trip was otherwise good.

Too bad you didn't burst out laughing at him..... seriously it is an upsetting issue any where in the world. I think its best for women to be especially careful when they are not in their own area. One really doesns't know what areas might be "dicey" in a strange city.

I do realize this could happen anywhere. I didnt think I was saying only in Spain (seville)..Just wanted to advise other women to be more aware in this area if alone.

That's when you need a large magnifying glass and a very good sense of humour.
You poor thing! How awful.

One of the many peculiarities of Spanish life. Breakfast consists of revolting churros with chocolate, treackle coffee and a good fondle in the park. At least they get it right in one respect!

Is it just me, or does this thread not dignify the OP or the assault that took place against her?

FrankS, I expressed my sympathy to the OP in my earlier post as the same has happened to me. However IMO it's inaccurate to call it an assault if the man never touched her. It's a disgusting experience indeed, but I did not feel I had been assaulted when I was the victim.

I think the point most people are trying to make is that this can happen anywhere and it's always a good idea for a woman traveling alone to use extra caution. And once again, I think it's a good reminder.

Same happened to wife and self in Paris, Nice and Milan. Men needed to pee and went. Wife chose to ignore them.

It doesn't take Spain to produce a pervert.

It happens everywhere, and while I sympathize with the OP for her experience, this is not an issue specific to Spain.

Also, you can't possibly use the words "churro" and "chocolate" with "revolting" in the same sentence.

This can happen anywhere - literally. I wouldn;t take it as especially common n Seville. (They have caught sevral similar onthe NYC subway when people used their phones to take photos and send to the police.)

Sadly, it's human nature everywhere. Just be aware of your surroundings.

This seems to happen more in Europe than the U.S. Not sure what my point is...
