September in Italy Itinerary Help!
Hi:
My fiance and I just booked our flights to Italy in September for our honeymoon- flying into Venice and flying out of Naples (we'll have 13 nights). Here are my thoughts... Flying into Venice- arrive in the early a.m. and stay two nights- take train to Rome, spend either 2 or 3 nights, then spend the last part of our trip in "relaxation mode"- spend 4 nights in Sorrento and then 3 or 4 nights on Ischia.
Does this sound reasonable- we are not looking to "do" the whole time- really looking for some down-time. also, I really love the ocean, so this is why I'm thinking about Ischia.
Also- any recommendations on where to stay in these destinations- looking to spend less than $200/night in most places in relatively centrally located hotels. We would be willing to spend a bit more on Ischia, since we'll probably spend more time at our hotel relaxing.
Thanks!

Hi mma, congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
Here is my thought. Most newely married couples are a bit tired after a wedding and reception. I assume you will be flying from the US? If so you will have a long flight plus some jetlag.
I would stay longer than two nights in Venice as with just two nights you will only have one full day in Venice that is not busy with arriving or departing. I would think you would enjoy Venice more if you stayed longer. It would give you time to get rested, get over any jetlag etc.
I would take a few nights from Sorrento and add them to Venice. Just food for thought. Have a beautiful honeymoon in Italy!!

Hi mm,
I suggest 3 nights in Venice, 3 in Rome, 3 on Ischia, 4 in Sorrento.
>..looking to spend less than $200/night.
If you are interested in nice, clean, but not fancy, I can highly recommend the Le Sirene in Praiano at about 100E dbl w/bkfst.
Room 12 has a large, private balcony with a terrific view.

This doesn't sound like an enjoyable
relaxing honeymoon but rather a
sprint race...There is a great deal
to do and see in all of the places you
mentioned. I would pick fewer places
and see them at your leisure.
We did Venice-Florence/Tuscany-Rome in two weeks
and were on the move nonstop.

Arriving Venice a good idea as slower paced than Rome. But I agree with the others, need 3 nights in Venice. That would also make you eligible for apartments there which I highly recommend. Check viewsonvencie.com and sleepinitaly.com - the later can also be used for Rome. I would also recommend 3 nights in Rome. There is just so very much there and you will still miss a lot. The trains between venice and rome are frequent. Book one arriving later in the day and you will have a last good morning in venice but still have the whole nightlife of rome on your arrival. The rest of your trip I am not knowlegeable about.
