Hi
We got back Monday 10/1/13 and we had a great time. I vote yes on Greece. We stuck with our original itinerary except instaad of Kardamyli we went to Gialova near Pylos. When we were in Gialova the place we were staying required cash and there were no ATM's in town so we had to drive to Pylos. My wife likes to ask alot of questions. We were in a market and my wife was asking where the ATM's were in Pylos and where to park. The cashier was describing where to park and my wife kept asking for more specifics. The lady finally said that this is Greece, park anywhere you want. This seems to typify Greece where thing are done at a slower pace.
We were there for 11 nights and by the 8th night I was really starting to relax. We stayed at Oia Sunset on Santorini and we were really happy with the hotel. We had a big room and it was nice to sit on the balcony after the restaurants closed and you could see the stars. We also enjoyed going to the black beach for an afternoon. The giusebooks said that it was overdeveloped, but it was very pleasant for 3 or 4 hours. We also went to the red beach which was not at all developed and we swam there and the water had alot of seaweed in it that tended to stick to your skin, but otherwise was pleasant. The trip including airfare and everything we spent cost us about $4,500.
Thanks again for all the input. We really loved Greece.
