Segovia and most of Northern Spain snowed and iced in!

JFYI. Travellers beware. The ice has caused several severe multicar accidents on divided highways.. the roads are not kept as clean nor salted as quickly during/before storms as in snowy areas in other parts of USA and world.

best not to go out until the civil guards claim the roads are cleaned and safe.

happy travels. talk about a white xmas! Spain has had snow since November this year.

Most of the snow in northern Navarra and the Basque country melted with the warmer weather and rain over the last few weeks. We drove up the Salazar valley, to the Irati forest, last week and the only snow remaining was in the higher elevations to the east, in the Aragon Pyrenees.

Right now it's more rain throughout Navarra and the Basque country. The passes in the higher elevations will be dangerous, but the real problem will be the flooding, which happened last year.

Galicia highways are really suffering, according to the news.

glad to hear your area is functioning well for the moment, but yes, later those floods.

robert2533, do you live here or travel here frequently? I'm sure I probably should know this, but have lost track of the travellers and the residents!

We're back and forth several times each year depending on business demands and what needs to be done. And there is always a restaurant, hotel or country home that needs our attention.

Most, if not all of the snow has gone from Galicia. However a lot of roads have been kept clean and it seems that the toll roads are the worse affected…go figure?
Here is a web site that gives you updates of road conditions including roadwork’s and accidents. It is updated every few mins and works well. How you view it in a car is not clear!
http://infocar.dgt.es/etraffic/

BTW it is not civil guard it is the Guardia Civil. They are a police force.

No need to apologise...I just have a thing about non-native words used to explain something of a said country.
Like the Spanish like to use Isabel for the Queen of the U.K. Her name is Elizabeth!
Rant over…back to the work of this forum.
