Segovia & El Escoral- in 1 day trip from Madrid- Is it possible?

Hi,
Is it possible to visit Segovia and El Escoral in one day- from Madrid ?
I have only one day for tours around Madrid.. ( Besides one for Toledo)
Can I go from El Escoral to Segovia directly without coming back to Madrid?
Where do I go first ?
I have an unlimited travel 1st class Eurail pass.
I think there is the Alvia 04087 that leaves at 08:00H and arrives at Segovia in half an hour. How do I reach El escoral from there?
Please help.

I did both as separate day trips from Madrid but i would not do both as Segovia has so much that i spent most of a day there and barely saw all i wanted.

there is train service to El Escorial on the Cernias trains but from Segovia i am not sure it's on the same line - could be but you would not have to backtrack to Madrid and is easy enough to do i believe.

The new Alvia trains probably don't serve El Escorial so take the Cernias or commuter trains back from Segovia to El Escorial.

No, it's not possible by train or bus without backtracking to Madrid.

Paragkash-- I am all for independent travel, including making your own experiences as you go....however, your case is one of the few exceptions I would make to just get a guided bus tour. They depart from Madrid (Julia Tours, Pullmantour, etc....) and have a number of daytrips already laid out. At one time, pressed by time, I took the Avila-Segovia without lunch option which worked out great. The lunch time I took to explore more of Segovia on my own and met with the group afterwards. Worked out great. The tour minimized my transporation time, took care of tickets, guides were very informative, bus was very comfortable. Again, look into a guided visit.

I have seen El Escorial-Avila; they are close by so I doubt you will find a tour of El Escorial that will include Segovia vs. Avila. Either way, as long as it is NOT a Monday (Escorial is close) or there is not an official function, yu shoudl go to El Escorial early on. Better yet, rent a car for a day.

Paragkash,
Regarding the guided bus tours-
As Viajero2 notes, all the companies have them-but they have one for Avila/Segovia and a separate one for El Escorial/Valley of the Fallen.

You can see a list of them here:
www.viator.com/Madrid/d566-ttd?activities=all

As as Viajero2 notes, if you do go to El Escorial on your own, try to get there when it opens at 10 am (preferably during the week, Tues.-Fri.) to avoid the large crowds.

And enjoy your upcoming trip!
