Well we have needed no money in Paris (or London). I don’t use it much in California-only at the farmer’s market and lots of stands are switching to Apple Pay or Venmo.

Good to hear your experience. I will always bring some cash (mostly because I go to farmers’ markets 😉 - and many shops just prefer it because of various cc fees). We were in Geneva and environs for a few days last year and never saw a Swiss Franc.

Thank you!

Just a quick note to say thank you to everyone for your feedback. I did go to Paris and experienced no issues (just as everyone thought). It was a great trip.
Interestingly, I was surprised to see all the armed soldiers (well, armed personnel with big guns) on the streets. I thought that it was because I was staying in the 8th arrondissement, but it is my understanding that they are all over Paris. (I can't recall seeing them in other arrondissements, but maybe I got so used to their presence that I didn't notice them.)
At any rate, it was a lovely trip. Thank you again for your encouragement.

That is interesting, jcolobri - I was in Paris at the very same time and I don't remember seeing any armed gendarmes, except outside the British Embassy which incidentally is also in the 8th. It may simply have been because of all the Embassies in that area.
