Thanks so much for the heads-up on the Portoghesi.

I hate to pay a lot of money for a dark, drab room, but quiet is key.

What about the Hotel de Russie?

We had a drink there in the garden, and it looked lovely.

I'd love to stay there someday!

Thin, I got the recommendation for the Modigliani here on Fodor's and was really so happy with it. The staff were beyond wonderful, and I loved the little courtyard garden in the center. Great mattresses (I hate a squishy mattress) too. And the street (whose name I adored - and needed [via della purificazione] - was SO quiet at night, yet it's near the heart of the city.

I hope they have room for you!
