Gosh darn, lots of old friends and familiar posters are chiming in on this thread. I'm sure glad to hear from you fine folks.
Gave the "little wife" a break from our wood-burning stove and just about to start dinner: crab cakes, spinach salad, gauve-glazed sweet potatoes, and lamb/chicken/sausage/bean cassoulet. Pumpkin pudding and Orange cranberry bread for dessert.
Scarlett, you may be a small person, but you are HUGE in my eyes. And I meant that in a very, very nice way!

Merry Christmas to all from Chicago where we do have a white Christmas Eve. Happy New Year and let's pray for peace all over the world. Lots of great places we still want to see in our wonderful world.

Cool, Degas. Hope that guava glaze brougt back even more fond island memories. Living on the beach, eh?
Frankly, if I ever did a plate with all those carbos, I'd be ballast. But after paddling....
One advantage of these warm climes: we're going kayaking off Kaneohe Bay on friday....and the clan who has gathered in Hawaii nei from afar is glad to have a momentary thaw.
Although I do miss a white Christmas, we tend to gravitate to snow in the spring.

Kalena, Uncle Sam supplied us with some very nice quarters on Hickam and Bellows. Right out of a movie scene from Here To Eternity. Loved to sit in our front yard under the palms and watch the ships go in and out of the harbor. Boogie boarding, snorkling, hiking and biking keep us pretty busy.
My son stayed behind and graduated from UH. He dates a girl from the north shore and manages a department store now. He still lives close to the University and its good to have a place to stay with a "local boy" when we go back to Hawaii.

No no, Degas, I am hardly traveled at all and would never be able to reach the repeat trip stage!
I just lived in Hawaii as a child, courtesy of the USNavy~
Actually, at a certain time in the South, it was NOT what a girl wanted to have said about herself..."She gets around"............LOL
Happy Day After~

I hope everyone had as Merry a Christmas as they had hoped - if not a little better. We overestimated the amount of food that we would need for dinner so much that we are having the same members for dinner again tonight, but no fancy dinner setting\/
