seasick on the Seine??????
My friends and I would love to take a boat ride on the Seine one evening during our trip to Paris, but one of us gets motion sick at the drop of a hat. Has any one gotten seasick on a boat ride down the Seine? Does the ship rock at all? My friend doesn't want to risk barfing in public.
We won't be going if one of us is going to be miserable.

I felt some movement on the cruise, but it wasn't horrible. For sake of comparison, my mother-in-law also gets seasick easily, and I wouldn't recommend this sort of thing for her. So maybe your friend should pass on the cruise, unless he/she gets one of the patches.

Lisa, when are you planning to go? Just got back and the Seine is very high right now and the boats were not running. There is a resturant on a permanently docked boat that might be a good option if you are worried about motion sickness. I really don't think you will have any problems though. There are medicines you can get from your Dr. that are effective without side effects.

Thanks to all of you for the input. Unfortunately my friend will not be persuaded to go on the boat because he is not convinced that the boats motion wouldn’t make him ill. He won't take medicine, because he said they have undesirable side effects. I suggested some ginger root but he doesn’t believe it will work. He said he gets queasy just thinking about the boats motion.
Marilyn: We will be in Paris the first week of July (....I am counting the days!). - Lisa

I get ghastly motion sickness (my advice to everyone is never, repeat never, get on a boat in the North Atlantic--which I did twice)
but I had no problems on the Seine. The night cruises (not dinner!) on the Bateaux Moches are particularly nice. Stay out in the air!
