Scotland Weather

We're doing a 12-day trip to Scotland starting the beginning of September (Edinburgh, the Highlands, Isle of Skye). Never having been there, I'm wondering what the weather will be like. What kind of clothing should one pack? Thanks for the info.

Everything except snow gear (and if you are planning to do any high walks it's better safe than sorry)

Could be anything from high 80's to low 50's with bright sun, grey skies, heavy rain, strong winds, fog - and after lunch more of the same

The easiest way in Scotland is to wear clothes in layers. The weather can be changeable from day to day throughout the country and this would enable you - if it gets colder you can put on another layer - if it turns hotter as the long range weather forecasts are mentioning then you can always take off a layer.

My sister and I were in Scotland (Edinburgh, the Highlands, Skye, east and west coasts) in early August, 1999 and it was cold!! We dressed in layers with a good rain jacket on top. A big plus-you can always stock up on nice wool sweaters while you are there. We did. Oh I envy you!
