Hopefully you'll find something on the last day! However just to want you, the Glasgow underground doesn't operate on a Sunday (they really need to fix that!) However a cab from Merchant City to the West End is less than £10....

When we arrive on 26th, we will be getting rid of the rental car so that's good to know.

Oops! Sorry, I should have said on a Sunday EVENING....(me and my typing!) stops at 6pm.....

Glasgow is pretty easy to get around by underground and overground and lots of things are walkable. Taxis are pretty reasonable as well.

kxb, where did you get to with your vows renewal? Did you want to do it on a specific date and if so where will you be that day?

17 year olds are allowed in pubs by law, but some pubs may have their own rules which prevent it.

sheila, i've gotten nowhere with the vow renewal plan. i have been so overwhelmed with everything else related to the trip that i haven't thought any further about it. a specific day is not needed as the "real" day is already passed. thank you for asking about it though! if you have any ideas, i would welcome them.

i was going to look this up but i'm sure you scotsmen (and women) can tell me, do ATM machines usually charge a transaction fee? here in the states most do

"<i>do ATM machines usually charge a transaction fee?</i>"

UK bank cashpoints (ATMs) do not charge transaction fees. But your bank probably will. Unless -- you us Bank of America which is a partner of Barclay's. So if you use a Barclay's ATM there wouldn't be a fee.

But other US banks/credit unions charge from nothing to about $5 - that will be whatever your own bank charges for out-of-system machines.

Well, if you want to do it, I could probably help organise something whilst you're on Deeside.

thank you janisj for atm info.

sheila, that is so very nice of you but please don't go to any trouble on our behalf!!!! perhaps we will stumble on a particularly beautiful country church and exchange some hand written vows with our kids as witnesses

I'm sorry to be so thick headed, but which of our stops includes the Deeside area? Here's what our itinerary will be....

Edinburgh 3 nights
Banchory 1 night
Banff 3 nights
Isle of Skye 3 nights
Aberfoyle 2 nights
Glasgow 3 nights

Thank you
