Scotland Itinerary
Hi Everyone,

My husband and I will be spending a week in Edinburgh for the fesivals this August, but before that we'd like to rent a car for 10 days to explore the countryside, and isles.
We're thinking about picking the car up in either Glasgow or Stirling, but can't figure out what the most interesting route would be.
Any ideas?
(We love seafood, hiking, relaxing, admiring views).
We'd really appreciate your help.

--Laurie

Hi Laurie,

My wife and I went two years ago and drove for 8 days through Scotland. We started in Edinburgh, from there went to St. Andrews (beautiful town on the ocean), Inverness (Culloden battlefield, Loch Ness), Eilean Donan Castle, Isle of Skye (absolutely gorgeous place), Glencoe, Stirling, and back to Edinburgh. We loved driving through the highlands of Scotland and would highly recommend it.

Laurie,

One of Fodors' regulars, Sheila Ritchie, has posted suggested routes previously which cover the areas which you are looking at. I know many people havbe found her tips both helpful and informative, and as she lives there she should know!

Type her name in to the "search" box and it should bring them up!
