Scotland- is wheat-free bread available?

Hubby and I are planning a month-long trip to Scotland this summer and we are currently looking to include a couple self-catering accommodations (Edinburgh & Skye) to help save on some of our meal costs. I am, sadly, on a wheat-free diet and was wondering about the availability of wheat-free breads in the grocery stores there (I'm hoping to be able to enjoy toast or a sandwich now and then!). Thanks!

Mmmm. You CAN get it; in a city or health food store. ie Edinburgh will be no problem but Skye???

Buy mixes and bake your own?

For health food shops in Edinburgh, try Real Foods at 8 Brougham Place or 37 Broughton Street, and Roots at 60 Newington Road. They will definitely have wheat/gluten-free breads, pastas, etc.
As Sheila says, you're unlikely to find wheat-free bread on Skye so you should probably stock up before you get there!

It's a decade since I last checked the retailing on Skye. But even then Portree, its main town, had a good health food shop.

Jackson's seem to be still there. Ring them (+44 1478 613326) and ask.

Thank you for all your suggestions -- I'll be sure to print out this thread and take with me. If I have to bake my own on Skye I'm sure I can manage -- I'll just have to "rough it" without my bread machine (ha, ha)!
