Scotland in November

hello,
my friend and i were planning on taking a trip to scotland in november because the air fare is so cheap. (we are from the u.s.) does anyone know what the weather will be like at that time? we would love to see the natural beauty of scotland, but will it be too cold and wet to enjoy it? there's a possibility that we could go a little earlier in mid to late-october, but i'm not sure if the weather difference will be that great anyway, and it will be cheaper for us to leave in november. any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

My dear, it's cold and wet, go somewhere else in Europe - do Italy/Greece/Spain/France, not Scotland!!!

In mid-October there would probably be some autumn color still around, but by November I would think most of it would be gone. The weather will be cold, but not as cold as January and February. It may or may not be wet. The later you go,the shorter the days. Also, a lot of places are closed from October to April. There is still a lot to see, though, and the longer nights give you a great opportunity to linger over dinner or drinks.

See if you can put it back to October. The weather can sometimes be pleasant then although you'll need your jacket. If you want to walk in the countryside, it will be starting to get dark quite early in November.

Whilst I hate (hate, hate) the tone of Mkingdom's response, the content is sound. Come next spring.

Try Greece instead.

If you specifically want to come to Scotland & can do it cheaply, then I'd say come. Late October can be beautiful - it will be quite cold, but often v. crisp, clear & sunny. No guarantees, of course, and we have had a generally dire year for weather.
