Scotland-Favorite spots?

Hello,
We are going to Scotland for the first time Nov 23 for only 5 days. We want to travel a loop from Edinburgh to west coast up to Inverness back around through the east coast. Any recommendations are welcomed. We are interested in the beautiful outdoors and we love the water. Would love to know about any small quaint towns that you may have loved. Thank you.

I've posted a route on this a few times. It may be hard to pick up witha search, but if you email me, I'll send it to you.

Check out, Inverary, Tarbert, Plockton, any of the Moray Firth Fishing Ports, any of the East Neuk fishing ports

We drove from Inverness to Edinburgh last summer and had a great time!
From Inverness, we went to Culloden and then wound our way over to Lossiemouth, which we found to be a pleasant town with a beautiful beach! (On the way to Lossiemouth, we happened across the ruins of Duffus Castle, which we had a fabulous time exploring.) Finally, we stopped at the Glenfiddich Distillery.
We had hoped to go to Elgin, but didn't have enough time.

My favourite little towns were Pitlochry, Carnoustie and Arbroath all with something different to offer and all delightful. And Inverness is gorgeous.

We did a similar trip a few years ago, from Glasgow to Loch Lomond, then to Tarbert, Glenelg, Inverness, Kildrummy, Balgonie, Kinfauns Castle and back to Glasgow. We didn?t touch Edinburgh, as we had been there a couple of years previously.

If in had to pick two places to go back to they would be Glenelg and Kinfauns Castle.

I would go back to Glenelg because it is a very beautiful glen and a good spot to visit Skye from. We stayed at the Glenelg Inn, old and not particularly smart but the food was absolutely fabulous, as proof of which we had difficulty in finding a park for our humble rental car between the Ferraris and the Porches.

I include Kinfauns because the hotel or ?castle? was something rather special. Again, the food was excellent, but that was true for Scotland in general.

If you would like a copy of my diary email me at [email protected] and I will be happy to send it to you.

I agree with the most others have written, but to me it is a must to visit the town of Oban. I dont't know what it is but the town just seems to take you in. Charming location by the water.
