Score! 2 FF tickets to Paris in May
I tried for Milan, but could only get Paris. And I would have preferred later in May or early June, but beggars can't have everything they want.
As it is, we leave for Paris on May 16 and return May 31. My idea now is to get to Genoa or Pisa inexpensively from Paris. Any ideas? Or shall we go to the Dordogne? Moolyn's trip report has me so confused... she made it sound so dreamy...
Our original plan was to get to the French and Italian Rivieras.... what to do... what to do...
Any and all ideas will be welcome.
And Hooray! We are going and the cost for both tickets was $152.00 USD. I am happy.

ah, good for you. I would have preferred no CDG myself. USAirways only could get us into Paris, and I wanted to have a few days in Europe while my brother is there, so we were limited to CDG. Or nowhere.
But hey, I can do Paris. I've been checking cheap flights and I think we will stay in Paris for 4 nights then Easyjet to Nice. Not sure of the plan from there.
But it seems we can take Easyjet back from Nice to CDG and have enough time to catch our 11:30 flight out of CDG or AirCanada to Toronto, then home to Pgh. Easyjet is quite inexpensive.
I think we will rent a car in Nice and have some time to explore the Cote d'Azur and then hit a little bit of Italy.
Or maybe we will fly to Milan from Paris. Oh... I am still confused. I am glad that you have your plans well established. Just got the tickets tonight so I am very confused.

Deb. Do you mean the seasonal service US Airways started out of PIT to Milan is already booked for next May?
We lucked out with two tickets to Lisbon for this Oct. It is PIT-PHL-LIS. And friends of mine were lucky enough to get the PHL-MXO connection for August.
We flew to Paris a couple of years ago and took Easyjet to Nice. At that time, the terminals were quite far apart and took some time to get to Easyjet's. Things may have changed so check it out. I seem to remember a bus part of the way and then walking some.
We have a sort of big anniversary coming up next Nov. and I am even now thinking of places because the FF tickets are so hard to get. Give me some ideas. Somewhere sort of warm would be nice.

Hi Sherry
I typed you a long answer earlier today, but then my Internet went kaput and it disappeared! Drat.
But yes, I tried for Milan all through May and into the first half of June, and even asked if they could get me there via an inconvenient routing (once did PIT to PHL to Frankfurt to Milan) but I was told there was nothing. I suppose I could have got Frankfurt and then just bought my own tickets into to Italy... but:
The USAirways reservations are now out of a South or Central American country and I had a very hard time understanding the young man whom I was on the phone with. After several attempts (and I do mean several) I just said "check Paris." There were flights, so I took them.
Today, there was a glitch on my reservation, and I had to call two times to get someone I could understand and work with. The second call got me Miguel, whose English was very good and who helpfully resolved the glitch.
Anyway, after it was all over, I realized I might have been able to try for a return through Milan (into Paris and out of Milan) but it was too late. I found the reservations to be hard to work with. We had to do telephone reservations because the miles were coming out of two accounts, Kurt's and mine.
When did you go to Nice? I am anxious to hear what time of year it was, and if you went anywhere else.
Ciao, Deb

Hi Tuscan - congratulations! We did a terrific trip several years ago that might interest you. Paris for 4 nights, train to Lauterbrunnen,Switzerland (via Geneva) for 3 nights, train to Varenna on Lake Como (via Milan) for 3 nights, then flew EasyJet from Milan Linate to Paris Orly for final night in paris.
We absolutely LOVED the train trips, gorgeous scenery and very relaxing. And it was fun to have that last night in paris to look forward to at the end - a special dinner, followed by an evening cruise down the Seine. Three very different destinations, but had a blast!

Hagan, Oh lordy, my head is already spinning and now I must think about Switzerland. LOL!
Actually, my brother, who I hope to meet in Europe as he will be traveling at relatively the same period, wants to go to Switzerland, so who knows???
Actually, my husband wants to stay in France and I insist on a little Italy. We are big vintage car enthusiasts (especially brother who has spent his adult life collecting fancy autos) and I just found out that there is a Ferrari and Vintage auto show in Celle Ligure every May. I think I can lure DH and brother there for a little Italy!
I am thinking of either starting or ending in Paris, and hitting the French and Italian Rivieras in between.
Your trip does sound great, but we were on Lake Como a couple of trips ago, and arent ready for a return. But Switzerland... hmmm....
