Scooters on Croatian Ferries?
Hello!
I just booked a flight to Split (Croatia) for late May, returning Early June. We're hoping to start in Split and island hop to Brac (Bol), Hvar (Hvar Town), Vis and Korcula (Korcula Town) and scooter around each of the islands to explore them.
I'm trying to figure out if I can book scooters for a week in Split or if I need to get them at each island separately. It really just boils down to whether or not there are ferries that permit scooters that run between the islands. It looks like it's just the catamaran ferries that run between the islands - I know they don't take cars, but does anyone know if they allow scooters?
Also - if one has any thoughts on the weather for the last week of May/first week of June, please let me know. Is it worth packing a few sundresses or am I being too optimistic?
Thank you so much,
Amelia

Interesting question - I'm curious to learn what you discover! And just out of curiosity, you'll be able to carry everything you need in backpacks (or something similar) while on your scooters? Cool!
I'm also curious about your ferry connections. When I was there in 2009, there was a MAJOR shift in the availability of ferry options on 1 June. I trust you've checked your plans against the relevant ferry schedules?
I was in the area in late May/early June and thought it a glorious time to be in the region - lots of blooming flowers and temperatures that were comfortable during both the day and the night. As I recall, a sundress might not have been quite warm enough for my tastes; a lightweight jacket was much appreciated in the evenings. But I could be wrong and/or you might encounter different temperatures.

There will be some ferries running. Check http://www.jadrolinija.hr/ and let us know if you have any difficulty figuring it out.
I don't think you can take a scooter on a catamaran, but regardless, I don't think the rental is going to work that way. I have rented scooters on Brac, Vis, and Korcula, and it was always a per hour/per day type of thing. It seems like they kept our id and it was very official, with a lot of warnings about safety (on Korcula anyway). It will be much easier to just do day rentals. You probably won't need one every day anyway. On Vis for sure, questionable on the others. Korcula and Brac have pretty good bus systems. Hvar has boats that take you along the coast or to nearby small islands.
One can never predict, but on my late-May trips, 2/3 were perfect and one was rainy. Sundress weather during the day for sure, but sweater/light jacket, scarf, and closed toe shoes at night.
