Sardinia help
We will be traveling in Sardinia in early May for 10 days. We are interested in history, art, lovely villages - scenery .... we are NOT beach people. Does anyone out there have suggestions re. A 10 day itinerary... we don’t need to move around a great deal. We can stay in 2 or 3 places taking day trips.. Also, traveling from USA what is the best airport to fly into?
Thanks for advice..

We had a trip to Sardinia for about the same length of time. We flew into Olbia and out of Alghero and stayed in Santa Margherita Gallura and Alghero. We only explored around the northern part of the island, I remember we liked Bosa. No idea if airlines available to you would fly into these airports, we flew from the UK.
A trip highlight was a day trip to Bonifacio on Corsica. Amazing views and very easy to do. We walked from our hotel at Santa Margherita to the ferry port, bought tickets, about 40 min ferry ride. Got off and explored, had coffee, lunch etc. Got back on an afternoon ferry. Important note - take your passports as they are different countries!

I've not been to Sardinia (it's high in my list!) but if you like your wine try to fit in a trip to Sella e Mosca! They're famous for their Vermentino di Gallura Superior which is a DOCG level wine (top notch!) Plus many other DOC level wines too.
Their website outlines various visits, about €15 pp for a 2 hour visit.

We were in Sardinia last fall and based half of the time in Alghero and half in Cagliari. We had a car and especially enjoyed the lonely back roads and rural villages. Our son and his family are doing the same trip right now and were very pleased to split the time between the two very different bases that we experienced. They are having fabulous and warm weather, even doing some swimming this week. So, early May should be fine if you avoid some spring rain.
