Santorini Wedding Planners

Hi everyone! I am planning a May 2006 wedding in Santorini and am looking for suggestions. I have been there before, so at least know a bit about the island. I want to be married on the beach, and then dinner watching the sunset. There could be around 25 people there. Has anyone had a wedding there before? How did you plan it? How did you find a planner/photographer/etc.? I know there are tons of planners on the internet, but there are so many that I don't know what to do!!!

I have known one personally for 20 years, Markos Karvounis in Oia. Take a look at his website. I witnessed one of his weddings in 2001 and was very impressed. Judging by the smiles on everyones faces in the wedding party, so were they all.

He is a stickler for detail and will provide you with the wedding of your heart's desire on any budget level.

Another possibility is www.weddingsinsantorini.com - I used their planner Helena for our wedding in 2004 and we were very happy with her service.

How did we plan it? Well, we started by going through her list (on the website) of the different services available and selected what we thought we would need (video / photos / musicians / hairdresser etc) and then asked her for a quote and for her input. We had around 40 people. I can give you much more information but hope this is a help to get you started.

Thanks you two. Anyone else have any good experiences with another planner?

We just got back from Santorini. Didn't get married, but stayed at the Heliotopos. It's a small hotel (11 rooms) with the most beautiful setting. They specialize in weddings, there was a lovely one while we were there. The owner, Lila, is a wedding planner and is a wonderfully funny, interesting woman who speaks excellent english. We loved her enough to invite her to our home next time she comes to the states.
(the beaches, by the way, aren't what Santorini is known for - go for the view and do it at Lila's hotel balcony).

Hi Jaclynpoulson -

Thanks for your kind reply to my post! My new hjusband and I just returned from our wedding and honeymooon in Greece. We were married on Santorini September 24 and it was absolutely amazing!

Lila Konstantinides with Hotel Heliotopos and her staff helped plan everything. I can't begin to tell you easy everything was for me, how brilliant their suggestions were, and how flawlessly everything ran. We had about 75 people, but they could certainly handle smaller wedding beautifully as well.

While Lila is with Heliotopos, one of the things that I liked best about working with her was all the options that she offered. There is absolutely no pressure to use Heliotopos for any of your events unless you want (although I HIGHLY recommend a pre-wedding Greek BBQ there!)

Please feel free to e-mail me for lots of info. I'm gonig to write a full trip report soon, but I'd be happy to share all the information I can about the wedding planning process in the meantime: [email protected].

Congrats on the engagement and you will love having your wedding on Santorini!
