Sant'Antimo or Monte Oliveto Maggiori?
We want to hear Gregorian Chant on our upcoming trip to Tuscany. I have been to Oliveto Maggiori, but did not arrive in time for chanting. The monestery is nonetheless fabulous.
I have not been to Sant'Antimo.
If you've heard Gregorian chant at both, which did you prefer?
Thx!

I have not been to Oliveto, but have been to Sant'Antimo. I have heard Gregorian chants in many different venues and the main thing that differentiates them is the location. I LOVED Sant'Antimo, not just the chapel but also the surrounding countryside and the drive there from our lunch nearby. Therefore, I would recommend S.A., since you have not been there previously and it is a beautiful site and a great area.

Sarge,
I've been to both. Sant Antimo for the Gregrian chants & Monre Oliveto for the frescos.
Loved Sant Antimo. I webt early for the 9 am mass. Jusr abount 12 people were there, half looked to be worshipers, half respectful visitors. I stayed the whole service. The abbey is very simple and serene.
Don't go during "visiting hours. That is when the tour buses roll in.
Highly recommend.
