If you're going with a significant other, I think you'd have a very romantic stay in this lovely little village. I don't know about the Hotel Cisterna, but I imagine it's in the Piazza della Cisterna, which is right in the heart of the village. Hope this helps; maybe someone with more information about the hotel will chime in.

Good choice--great ristorante--see the movie " Tea with Mussolini" before you go--scenes shot right there. As always in San Gim., parking is the challenge.

This is probably our favorite hill town in Italy. We ate lunch in Hotel Cistern's rest., and it was wonderful. You'll love the views and the service. Helaine

My husband and I stayed at the Cisterna over ten years ago. The view from our room was fantastic. The hotel is right in the center of San Gimignano on the piazza, great location.

We stayed there two years ago, a room overlooking the square. Just wonderful! Clean, pleasantly decorated....perfect. Yes, parking is a hassle. Could park in back to drop off luggage, but the car had to be parked in a lot a short distance away...but worth it.

We love to stay at Hotel La Cisterna in S.G. Be sure to ask for a room with a balcony and a view of the valley. Overlooking the square is nice, but nothing beats the beautiful view of the Tuscan valley.
