Salzburg hotel advise
Thinking of staying in the old town section of Salzburg at the Weisse Taube or Best Western Elefant. What would be your advise on these two during July or August of this year? Or is it advisable to stay on the other side of the river and just walk to the old town?

I stayed across the river at the Wolf Dietrich. I liked the neighborhood very much (not as congested and thronged as the Old Town) and did not find it a long walk to other parts of town. Besides, on a stroll to the Altstadt, you'll pass by those candy stores with windows chock-a-block with the "Mozart" candies!

I stayed in the BW Elefant and really liked that hotel. It was great, very comfortable, helpful, professional, good location.
I haven't stayed in the other so can't compare. The Elefant was in a very central location for everything -- sightseeing in daytime as well as restaurants and things at night. I was in the part across the river for seeing some things, but I didn't personally have any feeling I should have stayed there. I don't know why it would be advisable, the other side is a good location, so if you are looking for some negatives, I didn't feel any except there were some people making noise in the street at night, which can be noisy in any Old Town due to the close buildings and echoing. I had my window open or probably wouldn't have cared. Throngs didn't bother me in any way, I was just walking around the streets like anyone else. At night I just went to restaurants and didn't have any trouble getting served, so there wasn't any issues.
I still liked where I stayed even though some people (young people who often talk loudly and "yell" some when walking around streets) were too noisy for my taste.
