My condolences to Robespierre and his family. Thank you Rex for letting us know and P_M for sending condolences on behalf of the Fodors group...it really is a family here, isn't it? I know that sounds silly but it seems like it what with the comments about how they'll miss arguing with Robespierre but with that respect for his thoughtful opinions. (And they said technology is impersonal! Look at this outpouring of emotions for someone most of us have never met.)

Thanks rex for uncovering this sad news. Robespierre was an extremely intelligent, knowledgeable, and witty fellow. He would sometimes post off topic but always on interesting subjects.

I didn't always agree with Robespierre, but I always enjoyed reading his posts. We always knew what he thought. I'll miss him.

I think Fodors had recently had his photo in one of their weekly email updates - the section of the email re: "meet the fodorites"...

My sincere condolences to the Pappas (Robespierre) family.

It is true, some of us had our battles w/ Robes over the years. But he was always so willing to help w/ transport and technical questions. Half of the Fodorites traveling around Europe w/ cell phones owe it to Robes who patiently (and sometimes not so patiently ) explained the ins and outs of unlocking phones, plus netbooks, GPS and every other gadget and gizmo.

Rest in peace our resident Mensa member . . . .

Oh gosh, that's very sad news. I always read his posts with interest, his generous & thoughtful comments & lively wit made me think he'd be a fine person to know. We will miss him very much in our Fodors world, and I'd like to extend my sincere condolences to Mrs. "Robespierre" and his family.

Rex, thanks for letting us know - I hope all is going well with you.

so sorry to hear this.

robespierre was one of the first fordorites who responded to my paris queries. he shared a lot of great advice which enhanced my trip.

i remember also the great fodorland map he had created and the pride he took in the rental condo he had purchased in arizona.

my condolences to his widow and sons.
