Thanks. That's 33lbs of baggage. That's doable. I thought I saw somewhere that the frame was 20" by something. Got to go research that, too.
I agree that they will charge a ransom for the overage. Forgot what that was, as well but do remember that it was robbery.
One can only hope that they don't put their hidden thumb on the scale when they think you're not looking.
That's happened to me.

Here you go - from the Ryanair website:

CABIN BAGGAGE

Strictly one item of cabin baggage per passenger (excluding infants) weighing up to 10kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm is permitted. (handbag, briefcase, laptop, shop purchases, camera etc.) must be carried in your 1 permitted piece of cabin baggage.

not only a size but also a weight limit on cabin baggage.

I think that the airlines are in cahoots with the luggage manufacturers by having different luggage requirements - flybe is 10kg hand baggage allowance (55cmx40cmx23cm).

the 20cms for Ryanair is VERY thin. they include the wheels.

Indeed. I had to slog through many annoying ads including baggage ads while trying to purchase my ticket.
They even had insurance ads in the middle of my purchase that one had to almost solve a puzzle to figure out how to move on.

In any event, I'm figuring that I'll carry my small personal backpack on board and let them take my other backpack below.

good idea, cybor. last time we were going anywhere [on flybe I think] we discovered that none of the bags we had fitted their carry-on limits, so i went to my local department store and aimed with my trusty tape measure, spent a happy 1/2 hour measuring all their bags.

I ended up with a choice of 2. fortunately one of them was affordable.

on our next trip we have a massive baggage allowance of 30 kgs each. i think we'll have problems filling that between us, but I'm looking forward to trying!
