Easy Jet Airlines - Comments?
I just saw a reference to this on Peyton's Sicily thread but didn't want to hijack the thread. Has anyone ever flown them?
They have a morning flight from Bari to Rome, which takes one hour and will give me most of my last day to spend in Rome, instead of arriving on the train from Bari at 6 p.m. And I'm dropping my car off at the Bari airport so I won't have to take the airport bus to the Bari train station. So that's a plus.
The cost is 24EU, as opposed to 41EU for the train. Seems like a no brainer to me.
Am I missing something? Any feedback on this airline?

I booked a flight a couple of weeks ago from BCN to London Gatwick. We're not flying until June so can't comment on the flight itself. But I can tell you to be prepared for lots of add ons if you book a flight. They even charge you to use a credit or debit card to pay for your flight (less for debit)!

We used Easyjet for Paris-Budapest RT and a Basel-Istanbul RT. We had no problems with either. Even last summer, their carry-on rules were less strict than Ryanair and I believe that we were allowed on piece of luggage each in the hold at no extra charge. But these details can have changed.

I've flown them several times, and will be flying Luton-Nice with them next month. Be aware that checked luggage costs extra, as does paying by credit card. But they're still cheap. You need to check-in online or get to the airport early if you want to board in the first group.

Thanks for the information, everyone.
For a one hour flight, I can deal with no frills.
Thursday, I assume there are no assigned seats, so how "early" do you mean? Is an hour before departure early enough? I don't care where I sit for one hour, I just want to make sure I get on the plane. Do you know what the charge is for checked luggage?
BTW, does anyone know if they observe the 3 oz. liquid rule for carry ons? It will be the end of my trip and I was hoping to bring back some olive oil from Puglia. I know I'll have to pack it for the overseas flight.

No - you really need one hour before check-in closes for the flight otherwise you stand a chance of not getting checked-in in time, in which case you don't fly
As for liquid rules, they apply to all flights within the EU

We have flown EasyJet many times. The last time was in October from Paris to Naples. We love it. It's the same as Southwest. They board you the same way A, B, C. The airplanes are up to date and the crew is pleasant. Not only do I recommend them, but we will keep flying with them.

We flew Eastjet last year from Milan to Amsterdam and plan to use them this summer from LTN Pisa and Rome to LGW. To find out the full price, go thru the entire booking process up to pay time and you can see what the options are and what they cost. WE found them good for the price you pay.

Pretty sure husband just flew easyjet Gatwick to Toulouse. Can't check with him as he's still in SW France and it's about 1:00 am there. So, if easyjet, he said it was comfortable and the restrictions were fewer than flybe and Ryanair.

hi panecott
ditto what Ann 1 said. [we anns must stick together].
on the many flights we have taken with them from Bristol and back, they have been pretty reliable.
like someone else said, go through the bookngi process right up to the "confirm" stage. note that unlike say, Ryanair, the price you see is the price you pay, at least for the flight. no £1 flights that get £50 taxes and airport charges added to them. But after that, you wil be asked about luggage [better to over than under estimate, as the excess charges are prohibitive] insurance [you have to deselect it several times in order not to be charged for it] and speedy boarding, which is a big rip-off, IMHO.
when you book you wil see that there is a latest chekc-in time. DO NOT BE LATE. they will not allow you to check-in, even if the flight is delayed. so allow plenty of time.
but if you are in the check-in queue, and running out of time, no-one minds if you jump to the top - they wil be calling passengers for that flight anyway.
and with the numerous security checks now prevelant after you've checked in, I would go straight through security.
the 20lb luggage allowance is more generous than Ryanair, and they are ok about pooling [ie people travelling together having bags that are over 20 lbs,] so long as the net total is not more than 20lbs each. Again unlike Ryanair!
why not ahve a dummy run at booknig, then come back to us with any queries?
regards, ann

Thanks for the excellent advice, everyone. And, yes, Cathinjoe, it's 20kg, I just checked and did a dummy booking.
The fee for checked baggage is 9Eu and about 3.50EU for booking with a CC, so the total cost is 36.50EU, still a little cheaper than the train, but the best part is I will arrive before noon and not waste a whole day traveling, so I'll have most of the day in Rome - a nice ending to my trip!

I just booked a little while ago. The fare was 24EU, plus 9EU for baggage, plus 8.75EU for paying with Amex. All credit cards had the same fee.
It had said somewhere that the CC fee was 2.5% of the fare, or 3.50EU, whichever is higher. Maybe my math is off, but I don't see how they came up with 8.75 EU, b/c that's more like 25% of the fare than 2.5%. But I just booked anyway. It's still a good deal at 41.75 EU.
One more thing, about carry on baggage. Are there any regulations?

We flew from Milan to London last October via EasyJet. We made our reservations while in Europe, barely a week before our flight. PIECE of CAKE...seriously, we were really impressed with how well-run the company seems to be.
Check the website re: carry-on baggage. We carried ours on, but we each had very small bags.
