When I used AirPass 4 years ago between Europe and Chicago, I flew RyanAir from Frankfurt to Chicago--no problems, no first class service, but on AirPass I was just happy to have a seat! They offer super cheap flights--I'd say go for it!
Ryanair is Europe's largest low-fares airline. They many times serve smaller outlying airports, so consider transport expense to and from the city in the true "cost" of their tickets. The "Paris" airport they use is 35 miles north at Beauvias. Online at www.ryanair.com for info and booking. Similar to low-fare Southwest Airlines in the States.
There was a very interesting article on RyanAir in today's (6 Sept.) issue of the Wall St. Journal. Now bigger than Aer Lingus, and spawning big reactions from some of the majors, like Lufthansa, BA and KLM. Allegations by Ryan of retaliatory fare "dumping" by some of the national carriers are now pending with the EC. The CEO told Mr. Ryan to sell the company, Ryan told him to visit Southwest in the USA instead. The result is a success story evidently. They don't evan serve peanuts because the cost of cabin cleaners digging between the seats for shells was deemed too high. <BR> <BR>Perhaps they should offer fish food for the sardines instead.
Actually Ryanair is even less service than Southwest - no drinks or peanuts - but you do get to listen to the crew pitching phone cards, duty free and other items. <BR> <BR>Check several flight dates to see if you can get a super cheap fare - I got a 4 pound (Plus tax of 20 pounds) round trip fare from Gatwick to Dublin last spring
