Rotterdam. Worth a day or two?
I keep reading articles about Rotterdam's emergence as a cool urban getaway spot, yet I've never really heard a fellow traveler say anything positive (or anything at all) about R'dam.
Anyone have opinions? For the record, I like the lively modernity of Berlin or Brussels as well as the old world grandeur of the better-preserved capitals such as Paris.

Rotterdam is quite modern, so you would like it. It has several museums, and is a hip place. My friends live in between there & Amsterdam, and like Rotterdam better. I would definitely give it a try, if you have a few days to spare.

During our trip to the Netherlands, we visited Rotterdam as well.
You might want to read my trip report to see what we did in Rotterdam in one day (Clogs, Windmills and Canals)

Been there 3 times and find it interesting though not in anyway to be compared to Berlin's modern side. Yes, there is quite number of interesting modern buildings & sculptures but the total layout & effect are not impressive due to poor, inconsistent city planning. It looks rather spotty with several uninteresting/unsightly structures & scattered undeveloped lots. They also need to update/make the public areas & sidewalks more attractive/comfortable. That said, our cousins find it to be a better city to live in than Amsterdam which is more rundown & overcrowded to live in.
