Have fun, I'm hoping to get to the Christmas Markets in the next few years.

Rothenburg is a wonderful and charming little town that is well worth the visit but the Christmas market is rather small compared to some others. Kathy Wolfart's Christmas store in Rothenburg is huge and will offer you any kind of Christmas decoration you are looking for. They have shops in other towns too.
Almost every town has a Christmas market and the bigger ones are in Nuremburg and Munich. They are fun to wander through but after you have seen a couple of them they will be pretty much the same. Lots of food stalls, gluhwein, decorations, clothing, and in some places like the crypt markt in Munich, lots of wood carving creche figures.

Nuremberg is close by and has a famous and very old Christmas market. It opens on November 28 this year. Try the Nurember wurst -- our favorite!
Besides Nuremberg and Rothenburg, we also enjoyed the Christmas market in Munich because of its size and diversity. Although the Nuremberg gingerbread is famous, we like the gingerbread in Munich better and brought a lot home for Chrismas gifts.
