This is kinda last minute, but my friends and i really really need help booking accommodations for Oktoberfest in Munich! We're planning to stay there from 21/09/2007 to 24/09/2007 for 3 nights. We've seriously seriously SERIOUSLY tried to find accommodation, but to absolutely no avail.

Anyone has any idea where poor sods like us can live during that period. We don't mind travelling about an hour to Munich everyday and back.

Grünwald Garni, München - Aubing, double 159,67€. The area is quite nice. (A grew up close to there). . The train to downtown leaves every 20 min and it will take about 20min, you'll only need two strips from the strip-ticket because it's still in the inner ring. Hurry...

Hey logos999. Thanks for the heads up. Dicussing with me friends now... We're literally sitting around a table frantically searching for hotels right now. Seems like a good place. Although price might be just a tat bit high.
Would you recommend staying at Dachau? 'Cause we are thinking of visiting the concentration camp there. Oh, and will you be in Munich for the Oktoberfest?

What is important imho is that you find a place close to an S-Bahn station in the inner ring. Dachau is a nice place, nice looking downtown, great beergarden! I myself never stayed in a hotel in Munich, I can't comment on the quality of the rooms, just on the location. I only walked by Grünwld Garni, but never went inside.
I'll be in Japan until the 28th, don't like Oktoberfest that much.

One more thing, Dachau to downtown costs 4,20€ per ride, Aubing just 2.10€.

Hahaha, I think Oktoberfest is one of the must-do things in your life. We're just looking for a place to dump our stuff, shower and crap. Nothing much else needed. We'll be doing more research, but it seems we're gravitating toward that hotel.

You are aware that this is the opening weekend of Oktoberfest. To get any hotel is lucky. To get one for 159 euros is very lucky. I wouldn't waste time.

Book it on HRS. If you find anything else, you can cancel.

From Aubing station to Grünwald Garni, you'll find a "Plus"-Supermaket about halfway on the left side. Cheap beer for "Vorglühen". If you need food, candy etc., it's the cheapest place to buy some.

Arrgh!!! It's out of rooms!!! We're stranded again! Anyone has any ideas? We've a fantastic airfare deal that we have to book within 17 hours. Desperately need a confirmed place to crash!

I have never been there, but I recall that Augsburg has been suggested as an alternate location. Try that.

Try landshut.de. It's a lovely town that's under and hour from Munich by rail.

I looked at hotels in Landshut for your dates on www.hotels.de and came up with several hotels under 100 Euro.

Hey, you guys have been really great. Can't tell you how much I appreciate your efforts. We've given up staying in Munich already, and have started looking at the suburbs.
Another side question, is it necessary to book a seat in one of the tents during the fest? Or can we just queue to enter?

The last train to Landshut leaves at 11.45pm, to Puchheim at 1am, plus you could always use a taxi from Pasing at least. Whatever you do, there's not much time to lose. No reservations needed for tents, (no that you would get any by now ) just come early.

Hahaha. I don't really mind living in tents, but the problem is that i'm travelling with 2 other girls who will definitely need to use the hair dryer after showering... Wonder whether the Munich authorities are alright with smelly unkempt students lying on train station floor.

No need to live in the beer tents, you just go there for drinking your beer , although it seem some really stay there for the whole day. Anyway, try to get accomodation today, it won't get less booked if you wait any longer It's 6.35pm, still a good time for doing business.

Don't crap or voimit in the street! Keep the noise down. If you sleep there you will be asked to leave or removed and given a nice place to stay for the night. Either a hospital or a prison cell, whatever is more appropriate for the situation .
