Ronda Wine/biking

My husband and I are spending 1 day and night in Ronda in May. We were interested in doing some winery tours and preferably by bike. Does anyone know of any biking and wine tours there or has done your own? If not biking then we would prefer to hire a tour guide so if anyone has suggestions on this as well that would be helpful. We don't want to spend the whole day doing this as we do want to do some sightseeing downtown so probably a 3 hr tour?

Put Ronda vineyards into Google and a lot of info will come up.

Not available that I am aware of. Bodegas are outside of the city and the terrain can be rather hilly.

Hm we are doing a wine visit to bodega Garcia hidalgo. Could we rent bikes to go there or should we get a taxi ? We don't want to drive since we will already be parked at the hotel and will be drinking.

I have no information to help but maybe your hotel can provide you with details/ideas?

Drinking and later cycling is also a punishable offence in Spain. Even drunk whilst walking too.
Please do not drink and move!

The bodega is about 5 km outside of the city. You can pick up a taxi near the bullring or have your hotel order one. If you want a little exercise, then you should be able to walk out to the bodega in a little over an hour and taxi back.

Another one you might want to visit is Bodegas Conrad (www.vinosconrad.com). It's located on the A-366, at Km 4, on the right. A nice little estate with great wines. It would be a much easier walk, but I would not take a bike on that road. Too narrow and too busy.

Yea I think we decided biking is not a good idea. It looks like there are highways that we would have to ride on so may not be too safe. We will just taxi. Bodegas Conrad looks really nice too. Think we may only have time for one though since we are only in Ronda for the day. Thanks for the help !

Ribeira - There's an article in the NYT Food section on the wines of your region. Have a look.

Thanks,I have read it. Same old labels come up and one possible "non" fact.
"When I visited the region in 2009, I had dinner with a producer and his father. The father had tended vines and made a little wine for the family, just as generations had before him. The farthest the Ribeira Sacra wines had ever traveled was up the river, to the city of Lugo."

I do not understand that bit. Is the writer suggesting all RS wines were not exported since 2009 or only the one bodega he was visiting?
