Thanks for the advice. This is my 8th end of the year trip-so far so good. How would you plan this amount of time in Rome? Don't want to be criss-crossing the city.Would appreciate help from the experts out there.

"To be ignorant of one's own ignorance is the malady of the ignorant".FYI,this trip is not a freebie for me.The amount of the free fare is divided among the students.Obviously, you are unaware of the the state of public schools in Canada-the bonus system does not exist.Furthermore,I was under the impression that this was a travel message board with the primary objective of sharing information. The parents involved are caring, considerate individuals, grateful that their children are being afforded this unique opportunity. The raison d'etre of this board would vanish if one relied on travel agents.

Linda. I am a fellow teacher and am sure you that you will find plenty to keep them hoppin'. Yes, there is alot of walking involved in Rome and there is so much to see and do, I hardly see how they won't be worn out by the end of the day. They, and you will have wonderful memories forever.
I must say that I do agree however with one of the legion of "anonymous" posters on fodors who decided to respond to your post. I can't believe there is no itinerary set by the District and yourself. Frankly, I do view this as the responsibility of yourself in conjunction with any trip coordinators your district might hire. If there isn't one,do some research- check out itineraries used by some of the elite tour companies, etc;Spend some time in the library or buy some books like I did. There are so many resources out there for you to explore. After you've done YOUR HOMEWORK come back and we will help you if we can.
This board is for specifics and I'm sure we'll all be glad to help if we can when and if you next write with a SPECIFIC question such as: "Should we see this and that or the other".
Your question is far too broad and it is worrisome that you expect us to plan YOUR trip with your students whom we don't know.
I do wish you and them buon viaggio!

Pam.Thank you for your response.I realize now I should have given our established list of "must sees" & then asked for advice. This selection is a result of many hours spent reading guidebooks, travelogues, tour itineraries .The other 18 days in Italy have been carefully planned-sights to see, cost, travel time.Mea culpa.
