Rome Vatican Museum Laundry questions

Two Roma questions. First does anyone know of a self serve coin laundromat near the Lepanto metro stop? Last year we use Onda Blu near Termini but that's pretty far from where we're staying this time.

Second. In Mid May--- how early does the line start forming for the Vatican Museum? What time does the ticket office open? We've been to the Museum before on a tour which was very nice, but this time I would like to get in as early as possible and go straight to the Raphael rooms and the Sistine.

Is it possible for individuals to prebuy tickets to skip the line directly from the Museum or is that only available (at a huge markup) through a tour company?

Multo Gratie

There's a list of Onda Blu laundromats in Rome here:
http://www.ondablu.com/Template/list...&IDRegione=457
You'll have to use maps.google.com to see if any of them are near the Lepanto Metro stop.

The Vatican Museums have changed the schedule for 2008. They are now open from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm, with last entry at 4:00 pm. Individual visitors are admitted as soon as the museums open. Prebuying a "skip-the-line" ticket for admission before 10:30 am would be a senseless expenditure under the new rules.

Zerlina,

Has the Vatican Museum time or policy changed from 2007? We went last May, got in line at 7:30am, and waited awhile before we got in. It was very crowded and many tour groups were already in the museum. I am wondering if we should get an English speaking tour this time to avoid the long wait. Your help is appreciated!

Thank you, Karen

I'm afraid I have no idea how the change in policy will affect wait times, particularly in a high-season month like May.

What has changed is that group tours can now book throughout the day and not only in the morning, so there *might* be fewer of them in the morning.

Why not plan on arriving around 12:30 ? You should be able to get in quickly.
