Rome to ??? Day Trip
I have one free day on my trip to Rome. I would like to do a day trip that would be memorable, but not too exhausting or too difficult logistically. I don't think I want to do a tour. One thought is to go to Orvieto. How does this sound? Any other suggestions?

Hi Pam,
I agree these are all great suggestions. Orvieto is my favorite. Much to see, eat, drink and buy! 1 hour by train. We stayed 3 nights and loved it!
Just went to Tivoli (Villa d'Este and Villa Adriana) last month as a day trip from Rome. Easy. The Villa d'Este is everything you dreamed of in a classic Italian Renaissance garden. The fountains are a delight!
Assisi is a beautiful city, heavy on the churches! I stayed overnight there, but I understand it's an easy train/bus trip.
Decisions, decisions!
Buon viaggio!
