For Gina. Great info. thanks for sharing. Can you share with us how your flight arrangements worked out? If I am not mistaken you were flying Alitalia? Thanks

I did a separate post about my Alitalia experience, which is around here somewhere, but in a quick summary, the Alitalia flights went surprisingly well. The transatlantic flights were Continental-operated, and they were fine. The flights operated by Alitalia were Rome-Tunis and Tunis-Milan, and they both left within 10 minutes of scheduled departure and arrived on time, and were as comfortable as one could hope to expect. No one smoked, and the flight attendants were fine. Lots of reading material was offered (though the International Herald Tribune, the only English-language paper, was only available on Rome-Tunis).

In summary, I was pleasantly surprised after everything I'd read. I don't know if it was a lucky anomaly or if things are generally improving with Alitalia.
