Rome Morning Traffic--Will I Get There in time? Help!

OK...without really checking traffic issues/travel time, I bought a 9:41 a.m. Underground Tour for the Colosseum in June (on a Wednesday).

My cruise ship's onshore time is 7:30 a.m.

If I estimate that we will get picked up by 7:45 a.m. by our van transfer, WITH TRAFFIC, will I get to the Colosseum's internet sales window by 9:30 a.m. to pick up tickets for my tour? It's the Colosseum-led tour so there's no changing my tour times =(

Thanks!!

At the best of times it is an hour's drive. No telling how long if there is a traffic problem. Plus if it is a large ship and a 7:30 disembarkation, I think making a 7:45 pick up has its own issues.

Thanks for your response.

The transfer company(and most transfer companies) have told me 90 minutes for the transfer time.

Do you think 90 minutes is an "outside" estimate as in, it will take at most 90 minutes with traffic? Or on average 90 minutes?

Thanks!

I dont think that you will be able to dock at 7.30am and make a 9.30 tour at the colosseum.

You wont get off the ship by 7.45 ..

and as for traffic I think its more an average of 90 minutes so will take longer with traffic.

Newbie--let's assume I get off the ship by 7:30 am, and get into the van by 7:45 a.m.

Is there a good chance I'd make it to the Colosseum ticket window by 9:30 a.m.?

And I'm not being crazy about disembarking---we're cruising Disney and they do not distinguish between Disney-excursion passengers and non-Disney excursion passengers. If we line up by 6:45 a.m. we will be one of the first off the ship. They also changed their schedule on me (the ship was suppose to dock at 7:15 a.m.) so I will be speaking with the Purser's office to see if they can help us out.

No one can tell you if you'll make it. Too many variables out of your control. And honestly, since you have non-changeable/non-refundable tickets . . . what difference does it make? Not being snarky - just realistic. Meet your driver and head in to Rome. If you make it - great. If not - you'll have to eat the tickets and do something else in Rome. Those would seem the only possible results.

Have to agree with janisj...no one can predict this and you can't control many of the critical factors. No point in stressing about something you can't control. Do your best to make it and enjoy if you do...and enjoy Rome if you don't.

Thanks everyone. I agree--completely not w/in my control at this point =(

If we miss the tour, will we still be able to pick up the tickets for entry?

It seems like the actual "Tour" portion of it is paid for/charged separately than the tix...

Also, where is the area for pick up (so that I can run there after we hop out of the van)? Is the the same area where the regular line will be?

We've decided to call and basically pay for an afternoon tour, and we'll ask if they will just let us use the entrance tickets associated with the prior booking confirmation (purchased online).

I'll post back with their response for anyone else who might run into this *self-created stupid* problem later on =P
